Frequently Asked Questions
In-home therapy is a personalized mental health service where a licensed clinician meets with you in your home (or other location, as needed). This allows treatment to take place in the context of your daily life, where challenges naturally arise and meaningful change can occur.
Working in your environment helps us move beyond insight and toward practical, lasting progress.
In-home therapy is often a strong fit for individuals who:
- Find it difficult to engage in traditional office-based care
- Are managing complex or longstanding mental health conditions
- Are stepping down from higher levels of care
- Need support applying therapeutic skills in real-life situations
- Would benefit from a more integrated, hands-on approach
We work with adolescents (14+) and adults experiencing a range of mental health conditions, including:
- Anxiety disorders
- Bipolar disorder
- Co-occurring Substance Use Disorder
- Complex or multiple diagnoses
- Depression and mood disorders
- Neurodivergence (including Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD)
- Personality Disorders
- Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders
- Trauma and PTSD
Our work is particularly well-suited for individuals who need more than once weekly outpatient therapy.
Traditional therapy typically takes place in an office and focuses on conversation and reflection.
In-home therapy allows us to work more directly with the realities of daily life. We can observe patterns as they occur, practice skills in real time, and, when appropriate, involve others in the home environment. This often leads to deeper engagement and more sustainable outcomes.
Yes. We offer psychiatric evaluation and medication management as part of a coordinated care model. When appropriate, occasional in-home psychiatric visits can be arranged.
When therapy and psychiatry are aligned, treatment is more cohesive and responsive to each individual’s needs.
They do. Coordination is a central part of our model.
Therapists and psychiatric providers communicate regularly with each other, and with the client and their supporters, to ensure that care remains aligned, intentional, and adaptable as needs evolve.
We provide in-home services throughout Maryland, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia.
If you’re unsure whether we serve your area, we’re happy to talk it through with you.
We are a private pay practice and do not participate with insurance.
This allows us to provide a higher level of individualized care, offer flexible session frequency, and work without many of the constraints imposed by insurance models. We can provide documentation for potential out-of-network reimbursement when appropriate.
In-home services may be appropriate if progress in traditional therapy has been limited, symptoms are significantly affecting daily functioning, or additional structure and support are needed.
We offer an initial consultation to help determine whether this approach makes sense for your situation.
The first visit is a comprehensive assessment.
We take time to understand your history, current challenges, and goals, and begin developing a treatment plan that reflects your needs. Just as importantly, it is an opportunity to begin building a working relationship based on trust and collaboration.
Frequency is tailored to the individual.
Some clients benefit from multiple sessions per week, particularly at the beginning, while others may need less frequent support. Care plans are adjusted over time as needs change.
When appropriate, yes.
We often work with family members or caregivers to support communication, reinforce progress, and help create a more stable and supportive environment.
Our work is designed for individuals who need more than traditional outpatient care.
We provide in-home treatment, integrate therapy and psychiatry, and take a highly individualized, team-based approach. This allows for care that is both attentive and grounded in real-world application.
Getting started begins with a conversation.
We will learn more about your needs, answer your questions, and help determine whether our services are the right fit. From there, we guide next steps in a straightforward and supportive way.
